STRIKE ACTION - Letter to parents
Dear Parents
You will be aware that major union strike action regarding multiple changes to pensions for public sector workers is planned for Wednesday 30th November 2011. Because a significant number of school staff belong to the Unions taking action, Evesham High School will be closed except for the Sixth Form on that day.
Sixth Formers will be able to use the school's facilities for private study for any lessons when a class teacher is not available. They should sign in at Reception on arrival and when they leave the site.
I apologise on behalf of the school for any inconvenience caused.
Yours
Caroline Browne

EHS Open Evening. 13th October 2011
September 2011
Dear Parents of Prospective Students
Evesham High School Open Evening
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to visit us on Thursday 13 October 2011 at 7.00pm, as an introduction to the high quality education which Evesham High School can offer your child.
The evening starts with a short talk from myself and other colleagues followed by the opportunity to tour the school until 9pm. There will be student guides available and members of staff will be on hand in classrooms; all will be happy to answer any questions. Groups of students will be involved in a variety of activities and we would encourage you to find out from them what life is like at Evesham High School. We hope that you will gain a flavour of the civilised, happy and productive atmosphere here.
We believe that Evesham High School is a school where children can learn and develop, where children feel comfortable yet challenged to achieve their best and where children acquire the skills and understanding to become happy and productive young adults. We have excellent staff who work hard, are supportive and friendly, and ensure the best results for your children. We feel that we have an environment with good facilities in which students can be proud to learn.
We will shortly be sending you a copy of our School Prospectus which provides more detail about the organisation of the school. Please feel free to ask questions and make any comments about the information presented.
I hope that you and your child will be able to join us. On behalf of the Staff and Governors, I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the school.
Yours sincerely

E-safety risk
This morning there was an incident where people outside of school were issuing our students with wrist bands encouraging them to send texts to a commercial organisation. This text not only costs lots of money, but puts students at risk of sharing their personal information with unknown third parties. It therefore represents an e-safety hazard. The local Police have been contacted to prevent any reoccurrence.

EHS celebrates excellent results
A Level Results at Evesham High School
Ms Browne, Headteacher, said: A pleasing set of A Level results with all students achieving a pass grade in all their subjects. Well done to students and all staff who taught and supported them.
70 students.
100% pass rate.
100% achieved at least 2 A Levels.
91% achieved atleast 3 A Levels.
45% achieved atleast 3 A-Cs and 13% 3 A-Bs.
Mr Lungley, Head of Sixth Form, said:
The excellent A Level results our students achieved this year accurately reflect all their hard work and perseverance throughout the two years of study and were thoroughly deserved. Some praise must also be awarded for the high quality teaching provided by our staff at Evesham High School Sixth Form and for the support and encouragement of the students’ families.
Once again this has been a difficult year nationally for securing a place at university, but it is encouraging to see the overwhelming majority of our UCAS applicants being successful and they can now look forward to starting a higher education course of their choice.
There were so many individual successes and all our students deserve to be congratulated on completing the very hard work required to pass their courses. However, there are five students that deserve particular praise and recognition for their academic achievement this year:
Charlotte Butterworth A*A*A; Klaudia Kocurek A*A*AA; Heidi Chamberlain A*AAB; Sophie Blissard Barnes A*AB; Rachel Buckland AAB; Thomas Davies A*ABB and Peter Smith A*A*C. Congratulations and best wishes to them and to all our other 2011 leavers.
GCSE RESULTS for EVESHAM HIGH SCHOOL.
56% 5x A*-C including English and Maths.
74% 5x A-C.
97% pass rate.
Headteacher Caroline Browne said, “We are celebrating a 10 % increase on last year’s results and beaten our target by 8%. The original target would have put us in the top 25% of similar schools, so the progress that students have made is outstanding.
Staff have worked very hard to ensure that students understand the need to work hard themselves in order to exceed expectations. This has been a very successful year for the Evesham High School and Simon de Montfort federation.”
Top students Zoe Walker, Helen Bates, Reuben Grace, Harriet Lahiff ,Rachel Higgs and Kathryn Smith amassed over 50 A* and As amongst them and were variously amazed, relieved, happy that they had achieved or exceeded their expectations.
