History Curriculum Overview Year 6 - Year 13

This is an outline of the History curriculum for students offered by the Federation of Evesham High School and Simon de Montfort Middle School.

KS3 Outline

In Year 9 pupils have 3 lessons per two week cycle. Students study about the history of crime and punishment, the development of medicine through time, and about twentieth century world history.

KS4 Outline

In Year 10 the department follows the WJEC specification. Students study 4 distinct topics:
Topic 1: Developments in Sports, Leisure and Tourism 1900-presentTopic 2: Germany In Transition 1929-1947
Topic 3: Changes In Crime And Punishment   1530-present
Topic 4 : Controlled Assessment : The effect of war on wales and England in the Twentieth Century
In Year 11 students follow the OCR Examination Board. All examinations in GCSE History are taken at the end of Year 11.

KS5 Outline

In the sixth form the department follows the AQA Examination Board.
In Year 12 students study two Units:

Unit 1: Tsarist Russia
Unit 2: Britain in the sixties: A social revolution? Read More.

In Year 13 students study 2 Units:
Unit 3: Aspects Of International Relations 1945- 2000
Unit 4: Course work : An area of historical controversy : Britain 1600-1700.
