Mathematics Curriculum Overview Year 6 - Year 13
This is an outline of the maths curriculum for students offered by the Federation of Evesham High School and Simon de Montfort Middle School.
KS2 Outline
In Year 6 pupils at Simon de Montfort Middle School have 11 lessons during a two-week cycle of the curriculum. Specialist maths teachers build on work covered in Year 5 and strengthen numeracy skills whilst preparing pupils for the KS2 in exam in the summer. KS3 Outline
In Years 7 and 8 pupils have 8 lessons per cycle. Specialist maths teachers deliver the National Curriculum enriched with problem solving activities and ICT. You can find out more by visiting the link below to the relevant page of the Simon de Montfort web site. Read more.
KS4 Outline
All pupils begin their GCSE course in Year 9. The school follows the AQA Modular specification
In Year 9 pupils take Unit 1 which focuses on Statistics and core maths topics such as fractions and percentages. This is a calculator based unit.
In Year 10 pupils take Unit 2 which focuses on more core topics but without the use of a calculator. Algebra is also part of the second unit. Read more.
In Year 11 pupils take the last unit, Unit 3, which builds on the previous units as well introducing work on shape. Read more.
KS5 Outline
In the Sixth Form, the Edexcel Modular specification is followed at AS and A2. Further Maths is also an option. Six modules are taken, three in Year 12 and three in Year 13. Read more.
