KS4 Business Studies
Pupils at Evesham High School have an option in Key Stage 4 to take a BTEC Extended First Certificate in Business. The BTEC business qualifications are well known and accepted by employers and pupils can be certificated at pass, merit or distinction standard. Under the current Government guidelines a pass certificate is equivalent to two grade Cs at GCSE, a merit certificate to two grade Bs and a distinction certificate is equivalent to two grade As at GCSE.
The course requires pupils to study 6 units of work which together give a broad and balanced introduction to the world of business; covering business organisations and the make-up of the local and national economy, HR and labour law, consumer law and business finance. Read more.
KS5 Business Studies
In the Sixth Form pupils have a choice of two business studies courses.
OCR - Certificate in Business Enterprise - This popular 1 year level 2 course comprises of 5 modules of study. The course is a good preparation for the world of work, self employment or may enable students to progress to further study at level 3. The course introduces pupils to the business areas of the business environment, enterprise, business planning, marketing and business law. The course is assessed by 100% coursework.
AQA - A level Business Studies. This popular level 3 course comprises of 4 modules of study, 2 taken in Year 12 to obtain the AS qualification and a further 2 in Year 13 to gain the full A level qualification. The course is a good preparation for the world of work or to prepare for higher education. Pupils gain a sound awareness of the workings of business and will develop their analytical, evaluative, numerical and written skills in response to the demands of the course. Read more.
